His enormously popular programs featured a Dean-voiced cast of 30+ characters and were #1 in every market he joined from 91X-San Diego to KKDJ-Fresno.  At news/talk powerhouse KMJ got the highest morning ratings in the United States and as co-host of the Dean & Don Show on KKDJ he got the highest ratings in the history of FM radio—a record that stands to this day.

The great Jonathan Winters invited Dean to be his partner on a national radio feature, Jonathan Winter’s Wide Weird World. Then, after winning their first video competition, Dean was given premiere video blogger status with Huffington Post.  This led to his own comedy platform, Blimp TV, where 21 of his videos went viral becoming #1 comedies on YouTube.  

Dean’s work has appeared in Wired, Harpers, Daily Kos, Wall St. Journal, LA Weekly, Crooks & Liars and National Lampoon. Uncle Joe Benson, a legendary radio personality, begins hosting the “Ultimate Classic Rock” show

Benson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to “Ultimate Classic Rock,” including having spent the last 37 years in Southern California radio. Defined as an “AOR legend” in Don Barrett’s definitive book Los Angeles Radio People, he is the host of the popular syndicated interview program “Off the Record” and the “Uncle Joe’s Garage” podcast, and has chronicled the history of rock music with his Uncle Joe’s Record Guides.

In addition, he is heavily involved in his other passion – motorsports – with his Uncle Joe’s Racing team having competed in more than 600 events throughout Southern California, and has also served as an announcer at the Auto Club Speedway and reported on the local scene.

“Ultimate Classic Rock” can be heard on more than 50 stations across the U.S.
